Heidi Klum says she wants to be friends with Seal, dishes on relationship with bodyguard

Heidi Klum isn’t saying “auf Wiedersehen” to her ex-husband Seal just yet. Even though he made some nasty accusations about her to the press – namely that she lacked “class” and was “fornicating” with her bodyguard, Martin Kristen, before the couple split in January – the “Project Runway” host says she still hopes to have some sort of a relationship with the singer. In an interview on Katie Couric’s new daytime talk show, “Katie,” which aired on Wednesday, Klum revealed the split has been “horrible,” but added, “I want to be friends with him. I want us to be there for our children.”

“I’m someone who believes in a fairy tale and when I said ‘I do’ … I meant forever," Klum also told Couric. "But I don’t know, you never know what happens. Life ... changes, it’s that road with all those bumps and holes and you trying to struggle through them and — I don’t know, we just couldn’t make it work, you know?” As for their surprise announcement that they had split, Klum added that not was all that it seemed in their marriage. "People always saw us like laughing and smiling, but it’s not always like that. But you know, when you have a bad day you don’t really say that all the time. You know you just deal with it and you move on.”
Unfortunately, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel, 39, declined to say what exactly went wrong between her and her husband of nearly seven years. "I tried my hardest," she revealed. "He tried his hardest. Now, I just want to move forward.”
And, it seems, she’s moving into the arms of another man. Photos surfaced in late August of Klum getting cozy with Kristen during a family vacation in Sardinia, Italy, with her four children and her parents. Although she did not admit to Couric that they’re an item, she did reveal that he “is a great man and recently we just got to know each other from a completely different side. He's been with our family for the last four years. He's cared for our four children and helped us tremendously. I trust him with my children's life."

On September 1, after arriving at LAX airport, Seal was asked what he thought about his ex-wife having a relationship with her bodyguard – and he didn’t exactly hold back. “To be quite honest, if there is going to be somebody else in their lives, I'd much rather it was a familiar face,” the “Kiss From a Rose” singer, 49, told TMZ. “I guess the only thing I would have preferred is that … I guess I didn't expect any better from him, I would have preferred Heidi show a little bit more class and at least wait until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help, as it were. But I guess you now all have the answer that you've been looking for the past seven months."
Soon after, Klum released a statement saying it was sad her ex had to “resort to this kind of behavior and spread these untruths about the mother of his children.” Seal’s rep claimed “he was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together.”
