Levi Johnston welcomes new daughter, names her after a gun

Levi Johnston welcomes new daughter, names her after a gun

This just in: Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol Palin’s son Tripp, just welcomed his second child, a daughter weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces, today. The child’s mother is Johnston’s latest girlfriend and fellow Wasilla, Alaska, resident, 20-year-old teacher Sunny Oglesby. Yep, like it or not, another little Johnston coming into the world is indeed news. And the fact the couple named their new addition Breeze Beretta, with the newborn’s middle name honoring a high-end Italian gun manufacturer, well, that just sealed the deal. Johnston, a 22-year-old unemployed oil worker, strategically announced the name months ago, explaining that his yet-to-be-born bundle of joy was accidentally conceived during a hunting trip and that Beretta is his favorite shotgun.

His first baby mama was, not surprisingly, less than thrilled by the announcement. In an April interview with In Touch, she claimed Johnston hadn’t seen his son in four months and that she was concerned about the potential embarrassment her ex-boyfriend’s irresponsibility could cause Tripp, who turns 4 in December. "I don't want him to go to elementary school with 10 half-siblings," the 21-year-old told magazine. "That would really affect him. I hope that this child is raised with two parents. [Johnston] needs to step up to the plate and be there. I thought he had learned his lesson the first time."

Oh, Levi. In the four years America has known you, you’ve made so many interesting mistakes and decisions, all of which have landed you plenty of media coverage, mostly to the chagrin of aforementioned America. There was, of course, the simple act of getting the teen daughter of the Alaska-governor-turned-vice-presidential candidate pregnant. The Playgirl magazine spread. The red carpet appearance with Kathy Griffin. The book you wrote, titled Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs, which included plenty of nasty allegations about your son’s family. You’ve never taken the high road once and the strategy has done you well. Every time we think your 15 minutes must be winding down, it isn’t.
So, here we are again, more than four years after you first, unbelievably, stepped on stage at the 2008 Republican National Convention. You, announcing you’ve had another baby out of wedlock. Us in the media, covering your news. You win, Levi. We’ll see you back here next time. Oh, and congrats.
